• Interview with a Vampire

No, it's not like TV, movies or books. You don't have to believe me either. Doesn't matter to me if you read for entertainment or to read comments you believe come from a real vampire. Vampires are very real and live all over the world. We look just like everyone else. We have some abilities that 'normals' don't have and we do live very long lives without apparent aging. I was born in 1799 and still look 30. I look forward to your questions and will post musings about the history I have witnessed.

Just a few random thoughts and what I accomplished tonight:

First, what do I do with my time? I am somewhat addicted to television. I have DirecTV with every channel they offer. I love HD and use a DVR to record the programs I like. I love science fiction but I don’t care for fantasy.

I spend many of the daylight hours in bed watching the stuff I record. Current favorites are Lost, Smallville, Battlestar Galactica, and MythBusters. I like The Office but I don’t get some of the jokes. Guess you need to work in an office to understand.

I do not like sports at all. I do record the Superbowl for the commercials. Not so good in recent years.

I laugh at the History Channel. So much of what they show is off somewhat. Mostly correct but just as you would expect being told by people that study history but haven’t lived it. The timelines are correct but the nuance is missing. Also, what historians find important is not always what I think was important.

Saw something on Vlad the Impaler the other day. Anyone that thinks he was a vampire is not looking at the facts. The guy fought wars, outdoor, in daylight. He was brutal. I wonder if any vampires really live in castles in Romania. Wouldn’t that just be ironic.

I have to cut my hair weekly and my nails every few days. They grow so fast. Many of the vampires I know have long hair, just like TV and movie vampires. It is so hard to keep trim, most just let it go.

I shower daily and feel dirty if I don’t. I also have to trim hair all over my body as it grows fast and out of control if left to its own.

My friends that are not vampires feel a uncontrollable desire to test me. They try to slip things by me to see if I will notice. They have disguised heavy objects as light ones to see if I can pick it up. Think about all the things you would do if you had a friend with abilities.

I plan to write more about vampires and dating. A small taste for now. Vampires can see slightly into the infrared and our hearing is like a dog’s. When I enter a room, I can clearly see how women react to me making it easy to approach one that is interested. When a woman looks at me, if she is interested, her heart rate will increase and the blood vessels in her face expand flushing her face. It is not really perceivable unless you can see it in infrared. You might look funny carrying an infrared camera in a bar looking for the right woman. My eyesight is extremely good and I can catch the glances she doesn’t know I can see. Women like confidence and that comes easy when you can read them so easily.

So, what did I do tonight? For the last few months, I have been taking lessons. It was difficult to find an instructor that would do all my training at night and the requirements were difficult to complete entirely at night.

Tonight was my check ride and I passed! I am now a fully licensed pilot.

I don’t know if any other vampires have become pilots but I doubt many have due to the difficulty, not of flying but training entirely at night. I had to be careful what I described to my instructor as well because I can see very clearly with a minimum of light.

I have trained in a Cessna 152 and look forward to moving up to the 172 or the Piper Warrior. I rent planes from an FBO at a local airport.

Since I was a kid, I wondered what it would be like to fly like a bird. Modern technology has made it possible and I can’t believe I waited this long to try myself. I have flown for travel but always in the back of an airliner.

I am off to pick up some supplies tonight and will post more later.

Congratulations on learning to fly. Can you give examples of what you mean when you say that what historians think was important is not what you think was important?

    Good Morning!

Congratulations on you accomplishment! That is really nice!Where you would like to go in the next months?

You should change some friends, really. If they don’t accept you like you are without testing you… welll even nowadays that is not called a friend. And it doesn’t matter if you are a vampire or r anything else. Maybe you do like to challenge people…

You never sleep? I remember that somewhere you said that you consider sleeping a waist of time, but I didn’t consider you don’t sleep at all.

Apparently you wacht only american TV. Speaking 12 languages and as curiosity is what helps you keep going I would imagine that you would watch any world channel in any of those languages.

By the way… you said that you are not very technological, that is why I suggest you to contact your techfriend, the one who keeps this site, because there are some weird messages since yestarday within the reples.

Still you are a vimpidividual without a name fake or true, none…

    Enjoy the night! :-)

  6. Margaret on December 12th, 2008 at 6:42 am

Lantana, the weird messages are pings and linkbacks. (I am guessing that is what you are referring to.) Whenever another wordpress blog links to this one, it notifies our host via those weird messages so he knows he is being talked about.

True, I do not sleep but I spend a lot of time in bed, watching TV. I do have the International channels through DirecTV but I don’t watch them too much. The news is all fires, crime, politics and propaganda. I avoid it for the most part. I do like to see if it will be raining or sunny as I can get out during the day if it is overcast. (like today)

I watch a lot of Science Channel, Discovery and educational programs like that. I enjoy comedies, the British ones are great, and some drama. A few years ago I was hooked on The X Files. If only Dana Scully was a real person…

I spoke with another vampire I am good friends with about the blog. He thought it was an excellent outlet and might consider posting himself. He is a bit younger than I but spent much of his time living on the edge, unlike myself. He has actually appeared on television, something most vampires avoid at all costs. It was just part of a news story and no one knew but still a big step out of the norm.

I just heard Bettie Page passed away. I used to be enamored with her in the 1950’s. She hadn’t been in the public view for many years.

  10. Margaret on December 12th, 2008 at 12:20 pm

Please do invite your vampire friends. We certainly would love to hear from a variety of viewpoints. I would imagine that the variety of experience is as broad among vampires as it is among humans. But can we ask one favor? Just don’t invite any of the more chaotic among you. We don’t want to be considered anyone’s next dinner.

  11. sourjane on December 14th, 2008 at 6:21 am

Are there actually people out there who believe that Vlad Tepes was a vampire?!?!??! I suppose most foreigners tend to name him Dracula, so it shouldn’t be so shocking after all. But still…it’s so silly!

I really don’t think that there are any vampires living in any castle in Romania at the moment. Especially not in the Bran Castle, where supposedly “Dracula” lived.

Have you ever met vampires from Romania?

  12. Maeve on December 16th, 2008 at 11:45 am

    Hi Mr Vampire,

mmm… I’ve always been interested in the mystery surrounding vampirism.. came across your blog accidently and i have been checking it on a daily basis for 2 weeks now :p

mmm… i have the following questions that hopefully you will be willing to answer :p

    1. You mentioned something to the effect that we cannot really tell if there is vampire in our midst - does it mean that contrary to popular beliefs, vampire are not cold to the touch? that they are actually warm to the touch like the rest of us? Does the skin feels soft or hard to the touch?

    2. You mentioned that hear beat monitor cannot detect a vampire’s heartbeat, but you also mentioned that your heart beats very very slowly.. do you mean that it beats so slowly that the hearbeat monitor is unable to track it?

    3. Is it true that vampire is the greatest predator on earth - that everything about them lures the intended prey (humans) towards them? Do vampires become suave, beautiful, charismatic, have beautifully seductive voice etc upon turning?

    4. Upon turning, is there an initial “get-use-to-it” stage where it is difficult for the new vampire to NOT take human blood (as mentioned by Twilight author)?

    5. Dating & bedding - do you mean that vampire can actually have sex with human beings?? Wouldn’t the sound of the human’s heart working overtime during arousal stage be extremely difficult for the vampire to endure without killing the human?

    6. You mentioned that vampires do not actually have fangs. As such, how do vampires actually feed on humans/ animals? is it a cresent shape cut by the entire row of razor sharp teeth or…?

hee hee…. your blog is a dream come true - i hope i’m not antagonising you / putting you in any difficult position by my curiosity :-) While i hope for the answers to the above questions, i’ll understand too if you decides not to answer…

Thanks for your time in reading this and i hope you enjoy your new hobby ;p

    Cheers

I believe I stated that I have dreamed of flying since I was a kid. We had hot air balloons when I was young but they were a rare sight and very dangerous. Birds have facinated people for thousands of years and many people throughout history, including da Vinci have devised ways to try.
Regarding testing your friends, I bet if you look at your friendships, you often give a friendly ribbing to your friends for their likes, dislikes or mistakes. This is much the same thing.

  22. trianglenights on December 30th, 2008 at 7:52 pm

For those wondering, the history checks out. Quoting: http://alex.edfac.usyd.edu.au/BLP/websites/Machan/hotair.htm

Hot air balloons were invented in 1783 by two French brothers, Jacques and Joseph Montgolfier. They were very wealthy paper makers. When they how paper rose with the hot air in a chimney, they thought that a paper balloon filled with hot air might also fly.

The first manned flight of a hot air balloon took off on the 21st of November 1783 in Paris, France. The flight lasted twenty-three minutes and travelled about sixteen kilometres.

  23. Vampire on December 30th, 2008 at 8:43 pm

    Hi Maeve,
1- We are a bit cool to the touch but not cold. It is really not that noticeable to most people but one caveat…
If you ever date a vampire, you won’t snuggle for long periods because will will sap your heat and you will become very uncomfortably cold.
2-Our hearts beat very slowly and it will blip on a monitor but it is so slow most consider the blip an aberration. Because of the infrequent beat, if you put your ear to a vampire’s chest, you might hear it but you probably won’t. Without the regular beat, it is not a sound that jumps out.
3-A predator hunts and kills it’s prey. Modern vampires do not kill anyone. We have plenty of sources of nutrition without hunting prey. In dire circumstances, we may prey on rodents or cattle but I don’t really consider that being a predator. Now, if we wanted to go on a killing spree against humans, we would be very hard to stop. We are not invincible and much of our ability to survive is based on the fact that people don’t believe we are real, so they do not take the actions necessary to prevent our regeneration. We do not become suave, charismatic or have a change of voice when we are turned. Beauty, I might give you. Our skin becomes very clear and blemish free and soft as a babies skin. We are a shade paler after turning, but not unnaturally so.
4-There is not really a period where you crave blood to the point you can loose control. It is a drive, like a hungry person, but we remain in control. There is no question what you are craving and if you have a good host, they will provide it so you are not put in the position of having to hunt. A new vampire without a host will not usually last long as they put themselves in harms way to get blood and do not understand what can harm them.
5-Yes, we can mate with humans but we are sterile. Because of our heightened senses, we are known for our ability to ‘read’ the partner and provide the correct stimulation for that person. I plan a more detailed post soon about dating vampires.
6-Vampires do indeed have fangs. They do retract and are hardly noticeable unless extended. Unlike TV or movies, they do not spring out like a switchblade (Twilight and True Blood come to mind). They extend over 30 seconds or so and retract at the same speed. They are not as long as the fangs seen on TV and in movies. They are somewhat sharp but not like a razor. As I have stated before, they are similar to a snakes fangs in that a small channel in them can inject blood into the victim. Contrary to popular belief, vampires do not drink blood. We draw the blood into our own bloodstream through the fangs. This works while extended or retracted. We hold the blood in our mouths and draw it, like a straw, through the fangs into our bloodstream.

    Hope I answered your questions.

oh and I’ll be looking forward for your postings on dating a vampire.. as well as what will happen during turnings ;p

mmm… can i ask you a couple more questions in the meantime? ;p

1- is the intelligence and memory of vampires improved upon turning? ;p

2- any idea how a (voluntary) human feels when he/she offers her blood to a vampire? Must the blood be taken from the main artery at the neck or anywhere on the body (eg: wrist)?

3- Must i be a really good researcher to find a vampire? Is there any other way to befriend one?

Thanks again for taking the time to read my postings … hope you have a great year ahead ;p

    Cheers,

O.k. reading this blog made me thin of a few more questions, if you don’t mind? Which decade was your favorite as far as technology and over all culture? Also do you own any pets? I would think having some of thier traits you would be a more understanding owner, as far as dogs go anyway. Not that you are a dog , I hope that didn’t sound bad. Anyway also I just got back from marti gras what an expiernce that was. Do you like the hole idea of having soo many people there celebrating? What if any is your favortie part of the celebrating?

If I mentioned this before, I’m sorry. My vampire friend’s hair doesn’t seem to grow that fast, and she tries to keep long nails but they keep breaking.
Hold it! Contradiction! You have previously talked about ingesting blood, but here you talk about drawing it directly into the blood stream. Which is it?
